Seiko Prospex Alpinist Mountain Sunset 2021 Limited Edition SPB201J1

The Seiko Prospex Alpinist Mountain Sunset 2021 is the Japanese manufacturer’s second Alpinist watch model exclusively for Europe.
Introducing Seiko’s cult popularity, the latest generation of the Alpinist replica watches collection, introduced in 1959, was introduced in December 2019, when, after a long wait, it also entered the Europe-wide import program.
In November 2020, the collection received the first limited edition model (SBP199J1) bearing the nickname “Mountain Glacier” for Europe, and this year the sequel followed in February, when the limited edition model “Mountain Sunset”, also known as SPB201J1, was launched without major drum shells.

Alpinist is Seiko’s first real sports watch with a history of seven generations. The story began in 1959, when Seiko introduced the first manually tuned watches bearing the Alpinist name as a sub-brand of the Laurel collection. The watches were designed from the beginning to meet the needs of Japanese mountaineers and hikers. The Alpinist collection was continued a few years later, when watches received automatic movements. After that, the third Alpinist collection could be expected to last 31 years.
In 1995, Seiko introduced the Red Alpinist collection, nicknamed the red Alpinist text on the dial, whose design language and functionality can be considered a model for the Alpinist collection known today. This model introduced for the first time a compass ring that can be moved with a separate knob, as well as a modern-shaped shell model that protects the pull button. At the same time, the first green-painted Alpinist was also introduced, which became the most popular color in the collection.
The latest model version saw the light of day in the 2019/2020 fold, when the collection went on global sale. In a lightweight facelift, Alpinist, which received its Prospex logo on its dial, received a machine upgrade to the 6R35 caliber from the previous 6R15 caliber, increasing the watch’s operating capacity by 20 hours to approximately 70 hours.
